Welcome to this week’s edition of Fast Forward Friday! Hope you will power through to Monday by Viewing, Listening, Reading and Researching with us! Please feel free to Like and Share!

VIEWING: In honor of Thanksgiving, I recommend viewing a brief history of the origins of the holiday, courtesy of Abraham Lincoln: “Lincoln and Thanksgiving: The Origin of an American Holiday” from PragerU. This video is available on YouTube.

LISTENING: Also in honor of Thanksgiving, the late REO Speedwagon lead guitarist Gary Richrath’s signature guitar solo was “The Flying Turkey Trot.” YouTube’s 1016vortex version of “Gary Richrath–Flying Turkey Trot” is a high octane showcase of Richrath’s hard-charging style.

READING: Tony Hillerman wrote best-selling mysteries featuring Native American settings and characters. He also edited a splendid volume entitled “The Best of the West: An Anthology of Classic Writings from the American West.” Part history–“The Russians in California,” part biography–“The Way to Rainy Mountain” by N. Scott Momaday, part narrative–“The $175,000 Sack of Flour,” part news accounts–“The Spree at the End of the Trail,” and part tall tale–“The First Jumping Frog,”–this collection is a real treat that can be digested in more than 140 bite-sized pieces.

RESEARCHING: In honor of Thanksgiving, our research word this week is: Gramercy.
